Attached are your P15 Re-Testing protocols for next week.  Please take a look at each day’s protocols and the time necessary to complete (warm up, main set, cool down, post exercise stretching/foam rolling, and recovery hydration and eating) each day at an optimum performance level.  As an athlete, a week of assessments is an opportunity for you to see the results of your labor.  However, if you don’t establish the foundation for you to performance – allocating the necessary amount of time and having the necessary resources, you will not be able to see your true potential.

Preparing for Success

Performing at an elite level requires an incredible amount of effort being placed on scheduling and implementation.  As we have discussed numerous times, you can’t manage time, but only your personal schedule (what you will be doing and when); by identifying your priorities and working them into your daily/weekly schedule will increase not only your motivation, but also your results because you are doing EXACTLY what you have prioritized needs to be done and you have sacrificed YOUR time to make it a reality.

A few thoughts about your week of assessments:

  1. Capture your body measurements PRIOR to beginning the week of assessments.  Your body measurements will be distorted with inflammation during your week of assessments.
  2. Understand that you are implementing the “Familiarity Principle” to this second round of assessments.  The first time you completed these assessments (particularly the new protocols) your muscles created a tremendous amount of “noise” and negative talk in your head; stay ahead of this noise and negativity by understanding the purpose of these assessments: to evaluate your progress as an athlete.  Don’t be surprised with an improvement with your testing results, you train to become a better athlete, don’t run from that goal now!  Mentally focus and go after these assessments.
  3. Refrain from looking at your past results.  Simply go into each assessment with the idea that you are going to push yourself to your ultimate limit: exactly to where your strength, endurance and lactate tolerance levels have developed.  Think about this, you are not asking your body to perform at a level beyond what you have taught your body to withstand.
  4. Update your results with the resources you were provided during week number one.  If you have don’t have them, I have attached another copy for you to update with both this week’s testing results along with your last testing data.

Remember to Train Smart, Not Hard and Avoid Overtraining!

Yours in sport & health,

-Coach Robb, Coaches, and Staff

Thought for the week:

“The best way to make your dreams come true is to write them down, create a strategy, and work smart.”
